Golding To Finish On Wednesday
No other skipper in the 24 years history of the Vendee Globe has finished the race three times, but Golding is having to fight for every mile as the problem he has had with his keel box has become worse in the building wind and seas.
A tough final 24 hours is expected as a typical winter low pressure system moves across the notorious Bay of Biscay. At the finish port, Les Sables d'Olonne in the Vendee region of France - where Golding's support team arrived today - the race village was closed due to high winds.
Golding was making steady progress this afternoon, modulating his speed to help his pump deal with the water ingress. "The water is filling up in the keel box and I have a lot of water in the boat, I am having to pump every hour and I am nervous about going too fast as it pressurises right to the top of the keel box and there is water coming out everywhere," Golding reported this afternoon.
The strong winds forecast in the Bay of Biscay are likely to reach 50 knots in the gusts, with mean winds of 35 knots for some of the time, dropping only slightly through tomorrow (Wednesday). Golding is expected to finish late Wednesday afternoon.

Oceanbridge Sail Auckland
As anticipated, the only females entered in the 470 fleet, Olympic Gold Medallists Jo Aleh and Polly Powrie won the regatta with a margin of twelve points. Paul Snow Hansen, who placed fifth in the men's 470 at London 2012 finished the regatta in second overall (with stand-in crew Chris Dawson), tied on points with James Turner and Carl Evans.
Andrew Murdoch finally won a race in the Finn: the very last one of the regatta. He wound up second overall in the standings behind Josh Junior who dominated the ten boat strong fleet all regatta long. Experienced Finn campaigner Matt Coutts ranked third on the leaderboard, five points behind Murdoch.
The 49er men's division was won by Peter Burling and Blair Tuke, while second place went to their NZL Sailing Team training partners Marcus Hansen and Josh Porebski. Marcus and Josh, who were jointly awarded the YNZ 2012 Singapore Airlines Young Sailor of the year award, managed to beat Peter and Blair to the finish line only once.
* On the final day of Kiteboard racing, Tauranga's Torrin Bright extended his lead on the fleet of 20 riders, extending his chain to six race wins in a row. Best women was Justina Sellers (NZL), finishing 12th in the open fleet.
Local board sailing coach Dave Robertson took the early regatta lead on day one, but Torrin proved to be unstoppable in the high winds of the final two days, when kiteboards where one of the few classes able to sail at all. Matt Taggert (GBR) completed the podium.
Kiteboards took part in Sail Auckland for the first time, and already provided the third biggest fleet, shortly after the Lasers and the strong local OK fleet. Competitors and sailors alike were more than satisfied with the regatta - the weather provided fun conditions to sail and the Auckland organizers proved to be on top of the game, setting up perfect racing.

Jordan Reece Unbeaten on Day 2 of Hardy Cup
Reece, who is competing as the Estate Master Sailing Team powered by Etihad Airways, was the top helmsman today in an unfinished second round-robin in the Under 21 ISAF Grade 3 match racing regatta.
Chris Steele, from the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron in Auckland, won three of the five flights he contested today, while yesterday's top team, RSYS 1, with David Chapman on the helm contested only three flights, for two wins and one loss.
Chapman had wins against the West Australian brothers, David Gilmour (Team Gilmour) and Sam Gilmour (Neptune Racing) but lost to CYCA 2 team, with Ashlen Rooklyn on the helm.
David Gilmour, 21, who won the Warren Jones International Youth Regatta in Perth last week, had just one win out of four flights today, while younger brother Sam, 19, had a better day with two wins and two losses.
Sam's wins were against Ashlen Rooklyn and Chris Steele, the margin here just five seconds.
The Gilmours are the sons of former world champion match racing and America's Cup helmsman Peter Gilmour. Their youngest brother, 16-year-old Lachlan recently won the Australian and Youth championships in the International 420 class in Hobart. -- Peter Campbell

The Western Solent offers excellent racing waters only 10 mins from the Club, with a variety of options available to ensure good racing whatever the wind direction. Once back in the Club, the racers can be sure of a warm welcome, whether they are members or visitors.

The Spinlock IRC Limited Validity TCC is an initiative by the RORC Rating Office for 2013 for occasional IRC racers. If you are thinking of doing just one or two IRC events this year then the Spinlock IRC LV TCC may be for you. Jones not unlike many other yacht owners has always had the personal passion to test his skill in the gruelling 628 nautical mile race to Hobart and considered the race as unfinished business when his crew of Sunshine Coast sailors won the prestigious Audi National championship trophy in yachts believed to be too small to race on the storm tormented Tasman Sea.
His search for a likely Hobart race challenger ended with the purchase and subsequent speed sailing re-vamp of the Hugh Welbourn designed Heaven Can Wait which gained the distinction of being a top performer on the International open 50 regatta circuit besides winning the Grand Prix class trophy at Hamilton Island Race Week when helmed by her original owner Warren Johns.
The proven pedigree of Heaven Can Wait has since been 'tweaked' with a power sailing new rig configuration which was put to the test during the Surf to City (Gold Coast to Sandgate) race when the crew handled a physically demanding headwind sailing test to win the line honours trophy.
They have successfully mastered the required crew technique to race the larger and more powerful sloop and their results including winning the best in the Nation titles twice suggests the A5 Alegria V crew will be boat prepared to face a busy offshore racing challenge next month which includes the XXXX Queensland IRC class championship over the Southport Yacht Club courses on the 15th-17th March followed by the 308n/ml Qantaslink Brisbane to Gladstone blue water classic starting on Good Friday March 29th.
However the entry list for the important Southport Yacht Club hosted Queensland championship and the Queensland Cruising Yachts Club's Brisbane to Gladstone race promises to provide the Sunshine Coast crew with a supreme test of tactical racing particularly against the strong group of match racing Farr 40's including Bribie Star and Keel Train skippered by experienced Sunshine Coast helmsmen Ken Down and Greg Torpy.
Down who has the career distinction of being a member of an Australian Admirals Cup winning team held the edge over Torpy to win the class Queensland championship during a windy weekend in October.
But Torpy a former Etchells World championship winning crew and Australian Olympian nominated as the sailing master with a young crew of Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron sailors on Keel Train believes his crew is not far away from creating a tactical headache for the more experienced rivals.
They terminated some sails during the torrid Queensland Farr 40 series which ultimately damaged their point score however according to their mentor the enthusiastic Keel Train crew will be ready to engage the more favoured A5 Alegria V and Bribie Star when the battle lines are drawn for class honours in the 308 n/ml Brisbane to Gladstone Race over the Easter Weekend. -- Ian Grant

Up and coming Skandia Team GBR Development Squad sailors Rupert White and Nikki Boniface are the latest recipients of the Marlow Ropes Award, which will give them free rope for a year as they launch their campaign in the new Nacra 17 Olympic multihull class.
The Marlow Ropes Award was introduced in 2002 with the aim of rewarding Britain's most promising young sailors for their determination, focus and talent.
White and Boniface, who competed together at youth level, winning ISAF Youth Worlds bronze and silver at the SL16 World Championships, were reunited when the chance arose with the new Olympic mixed multihull class. Both of the sailors have been inspired by their families to pursue catamaran sailing, with a history of sailing success spurring on White in particular.
"My granddad Reg White won a gold medal at the 1976 Games in the Tornado, so he's been a huge influence on my sailing," explained the 18-year-old who also claimed a World Championship double in the SL16 last year with Tom Britz, winning gold at the class World Championship before claiming another two weeks later at the ISAF Youth Worlds in Dublin Bay.
Cowes Week Limited (CWL) has announced that Volvo Car UK is the new Official Vehicle Partner to Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week for the next three years.
Volvo Car UK has been a key sponsor of British sailing since 1999, supporting everything from youth development at grass roots through to Britain's top sailors at the pinnacle of the sport. Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week is an event that attracts sailors from across a wide spectrum of experience and abilities and so the partnering between the event and Volvo Car UK is fitting.
Volvo has enjoyed a relationship with CWL since 2009 as an Official Supplier to the event, but this new relationship represents an increased level of support for the world's best-known sailing regatta.
Germany's Reckmann Group has signed a contract to take over the Holmatro marine hydraulics product range.
Holmatro in the Netherlands has been designing and producing marine hydraulics for many years, including vangs, cylinders, mast jacks and power packs. Following the sale, the company will focus on industrial and rescue equipment.
Reckmann will further develop Holmatro's range of marine hydraulics as soon as the transfer and implementation is completed in a couple weeks.

Navico, parent company to the Lowrance, Simrad and B&G brands, today acquired its Swedish distributor, Sportmanship Marin AB. Business will continue to operate as usual at the new subsidiary, with all current employees retaining their positions.
Sportmanship Marin AB has distributed the Navico brands with great success in Sweden over the past few years alongside marine hardware brand Lewmar. Sportmanship Marin will continue to distribute Lewmar products in Sweden.
