North Sea Regatta
Scheveningen, Netherlands: The North Sea Regatta 2024 wrapped up with resounding success, featuring over 80 races divided into 13 classes on two race courses. The race committee efficiently managed the event, ensuring all scheduled races were sailed, and competitors faced a range of weather conditions that tested their sailing skills.

The regatta kicked off with light winds on Saturday, leading to a delayed start on both courses. Sunday brought perfect "champagne sailing" conditions, while Monday saw a breezy morning with overcast skies and rain, adding another layer of challenge for the participants.

The North Sea Regatta 2024 saw exceptional performances across all classes. Congratulations to all the winners! For a complete list of results, visit Manage2Sail

New leader as V scores two bullets at the IMA Maxi Europeans
Starting an hour early, two coastal courses including the popular lap of Capri were completed on the third and penultimate day of the IMA Maxi European Championship, supported by Rolex as Official Timepiece. The 20 maxi yachts faced a sub-10 knot southwesterly and at today's conclusion, the Championship, organised out of Sorrento by the Circolo del Remo e della Vela Italia (CRVI) and supported by Loro Piana, has a new leader in Hap Fauth's 74ft Bella Mente.

With five races now sailed, including the Regata dei Tre Golfi offshore, competitors can discard their worst result. Thanks to yesterday's two bullets, Bella Mente and her all-star cast are now first, three points clear of previous leader, Giuseppe Puttini's Swan 65 ketch Shirlaf, tied on points with Sir Peter Ogden's 77ft Jethou.

Today's first race was a 23nm course starting with a triangle and ending in two short windward-leeward laps, where the big boats, rather than sailing off into the horizon, got to engage with the smaller boats. After yesterday's brisker conditions, a surprising number of maxis suffered kite issues today including IMA President Benoît de Froidmont's Wally 60 Wallyño which was unable to drop hers at the leeward gate.

Tomorrow's final races will commence at 1200 when more light southwesterlies are forecast. -- James Boyd/International Maxi Association

Once a quarter or so, we combine the highlights with video and often brand-new stuff in the next issue of our "At The Front" digital digest. We email it to about 10,000 who have subscribed. And sometimes, friendly media people pick it up so more sailors see it. Our latest issue features developments on the bow. In "At The Front... of the Pointy End" we asked a curated group of some very experienced bow men... bow women... bow sapiens to help us understand how things are different up front than in the back and indeed how things are different up there than... ever. We cover matching leach profiles in the triple headsail rig - including a bit on outriggers. We cover bow person techniques unique to match racing - including steering from the bow (it's a thing.) Evening The Keel
Meet the women making waves. We are proud to introduce Evening The Keel, a Musto series in collaboration with @WorldSailingTV, where pro female sailors talk equality, motherhood, and getting ahead in a male dominated sport.

Part 1: Female Sailor
Years ago, Tracy Edwards stormed the world of offshore racing with her all-female crew, setting a new precedent for women in the sport. But where are we now? We started an important conversation with some of the industry's best-loved pro female sailors.

Not what you may expect? - Pegasus Yachts
Pegasus Yachts The purposeful new Pegasus 50 will take you around the world in great comfort... And if you so wish, with an unladen displacement of less than 12 tonnes it can also do so rather quickly!

From the outset four key parameters - comfort, safety, quality and speed - informed the design of this comfortable yet fast 50ft ocean cruiser from Pegasus Yachts, resulting in a lightweight hi-tech boat that's markedly different from mainstream offerings. It's a formula that has attracted owners with a racing background, including some with world championship titles to their name. All of them are seeking an enjoyable and fast, yet manageable and reliable cruising yacht that will look after them in tough conditions.

Many designers have attempted to blend indoor and outdoor spaces on a monohull but few have been as successful as the Pegasus 50's arrangement. A wide glazed sliding door between the cockpit and saloon maintains a connection between these areas, even in inclement weather, while giving a watch-keeper in the comfort of the saloon a full 360- degree view of the outside world.

New York Yacht Club Launches Performance Sailing Fund
The New York Yacht Club has added another facet to its diverse support of high-performance sailing with the unveiling of the Club's Performance Sailing Fund, which has announced its first six grants.

"We are so proud of the six Club members who will compete at the Paris 2024 Olympics," says L. Jay Cross, Commodore of the New York Yacht Club. "We can't think of a more appropriate way to kick off this fund than by granting each athlete $25,000 to support the final push toward a medal."

The six athletes are Maggie Shea and Stephanie Roble (above, left to right) in the 49erFX, Stuart McNay and Lara Dallman-Weiss in the Mixed 470 and Sarah Douglas and Erika Reineke in the ILCA 6. Douglas sails for Team Canada, while the other five athletes are members of the U.S. Olympic Sailing Team.

The Performance Sailing Fund builds upon the Club's enduring support of the entire U.S. Sailing Team through its Golden Spinnaker Gala, which generated over $1.25 million across the 2020 and 2024 Olympic cycles.

The Performance Sailing Fund will enable the New York Yacht Club to provide its sailors with the resources necessary to succeed in this modern era of sailing, where cutting-edge technology is a major component of many top classes.

ARC Europe 2024 sails the Atlantic to Europe
32 boats are sailing in the 24th edition of ARC Europe, World Cruising Club's west-to-east transatlantic rally from the Caribbean or the US, heading to Europe via Bermuda and the Azores.

The fleet departed St George's, Bermuda on 22 May on the 1800NM voyage to Horta on the island of Faial in the Azores. From Horta the fleet will cruise the Azores before departing Ponta Delgada on Sao Miguel on 14 June, heading to the final prizegiving in Marina de Lagos in Southern Portugal.

The rally officially began on 11 May with 17 boats sailing from Sint Maarten to Bermuda, including many old friends from the ARC transatlantic and World ARC circumnavigation rallies. 15 more boats joined the rally in Bermuda, seven of which sailed with rally support from various US ports.

2024 is the largest fleet for many years, with 32 boats in total, up from 30 boats last year and 26 in 2022. The fleet size in ARC Europe is kept deliberately modest to suit the smaller harbours in the Azores. The rally is a mix of sailing legs, tours and activities ashore and a cruise through the archipelago of the Azores. The yachts will cover over 3,500NM between Sint Maarten and Portugal, or almost 4,000NM for those heading to the UK.

Entries: 32 yachts. 17 starting from Sint Maarten, and 15 from Bermuda.
