Hempel World Cup Series at the Allianz Regatta:Aussies on the Move
Aanholt and Duetz (NED) started as they were expected to in the 49erFX, winning three of the four races in the 23-boat fleet. However, they were later judged to have not sailed the proper course in the opening race, giving the Dutch team an NSC score, effectively a disqualification.

The course error dropped the Dutch to second overall, moving the top Australian crew of Olivia Price and Evie Haseldine into the top spot. It was a good day all round for the Australian squad, with Aussie crews holding 1st, 3rd and 4th overall.

It's almost exactly 10 years ago since a 19-year-old Olivia Price won Olympic silver as skipper of Australia's women's match racing crew at London 2012. The youngest ever female medallist in sailing, she narrowly missed out on gold to the Spanish team skippered by Tamara Echegoyen who since went on to win two 49erFX World Championships. After six years away from FX campaigning, Price is back in the boat with 19-year-old Haseldine who is on her first European tour of the Olympic circuit.

On the first day out for the foiling classes in Lelystad, it was a stellar outing for Annelous Lammerts (NED) won all four races in In Formula Kite Women, with Israel's Maya Ashkenazi and Gal Zukerman in second and third.

In the Formula Kite Men, Benoit Gomez (FRA) won all four heats of Blue Group. In Yellow Group it was two wins each to Dor Zarka (ISR) and Riccardo Pianosi (ITA), with Israel holding second overall ahead of the 16-year-old Italian.

ILCA 6 - Ecem Guzel (TUR) and Louise Cervera (FRA) are tied at the top on 6 points each

Nacra 17 - Laila van der Meer & Bjarne Bouwer (NED) lead by 1 points ahead of Lukas Haberl & Tanja Frank (AUT)

iQFOiL Men - Max Castelein (NED) came out ahead of the first four races against Louis Giard (FRA), the Dutchman winning three heats and the Frenchman the other.

iQFOiL Women - Lilian de Geus (NED) won three of the four races

49er Men - Bart Lambriex and Floris van der Werken (NED) hold a 2-point lead

The forecast is looking light for Thursday, but the plan is for more qualifying races in all nine Olympic fleets.

Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta
Porto Cervo: The first day of racing was held today in the Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta, an event organised by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda with the support of title sponsor Giorgio Armani, scheduled to run through Saturday 4 June. After yesterday's friendly sail featuring the two classic schooners Shenandoah of Sark (1902) and Mariette of 1915, bringing the splendour of the Golden Age of Sail to the waters off Porto Cervo, today racing proper in the Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta got underway.

The Race Committee, after delaying the scheduled start for an hour and waiting for the south-easterly breeze of approximately 8-10 knots to fill in, was able to commence the starting procedure at 2 p.m. for the first division off the line, the Multihulls. Next up was the Superyacht category, using a staggered start procedure with departures every three minutes. First to start was Mariette of 1915, while the WallyCento Magic Carpet Cubed was the final yacht off the line, concluding the starting procedures.

From the starting line located approximately two miles off Porto Cervo, the fleet headed upwind up to the first natural mark of the course, the Mortoriotto rock, before heading on a reaching leg to the Passo delle Bisce strait and entering the Saline Gulf, at which stage the breeze was up to around 13 knots. After rounding the Secca di Tre Monti, the superyachts had a quick beam reach to the Monaci islet, where the multihulls were touching speeds of over 15 knots, before finishing the course in front of Porto Cervo, for a total of 24 miles.

The programme of the Southern Wind Rendezvous and Trophy, meanwhile, saw the fleet of five yachts from the South African shipyard sail to the famous Cala Coticcio, also known as "Tahiti", on the island of Caprera.

The ranking for the first day of the Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta sees the Wallycento Magic Carped Cubed leading in the Superyacht Division. She is followed by Bullitt and Win-Win, just 7 seconds apart in corrected time. In the Multihull Division the custom-built Allegra prevailed over Highland Fling 17.

SSL Gold Cup
The SSL Gold Cup Qualifying Series Round 2 is on its way. The regattas began today June 1st with a fleet of four teams (Group 3) racing in Grandson, on lake Neuchatel in Switzerland. Only two teams will go through and access the Final Series scheduled in October and November in Bahrain.

Although The "Krpani1860" from Slovenia (nicknamed after their national mythical figure) won Race 1, they had to fight a hard battle in Race 2 against the underdog SSL Team Ecuador to win 2nd spot.

This crucial 2nd place was all down in the last Leg when Slovenia - captained by Vasilij Zbogar, Finn, and Laser Olympic Silver and Bronze medalist - gybed in front of "La Tri" of Julio Velez who, despite coming back very strong at Mark 3, had to bow down. "We had a nice battle with the other teams, especially with SSL Team Ecuador", told Igor Lah (Slovenia's helm). "In the last downwind of the last race. It is always a challenge when you have someone chasing you from behind, you have to keep an eye on them especially on the gybes, so it was a little bit stressful".

Finn UK Northern Championships
14 Finns from across the UK travelled to the very scenic Yorkshire Dales Sailing Club to gather for the Northern Championships. After a briefing from the club's race officer, windward Leeward races were set in a strong westerly breeze blowing the full length of the reservoir. Two races were run, then lunch and two more were run on Saturday.

The sailors were put to the test with a strong gusty westerly and "fresh" temperatures.

The very close racing could be seen throughout the fleet all weekend with all the Finn finishing in a tight group throughout the weekend. One fluffed tack, poor bear away or dodgy mark rounding resulted in places being lost instantly. Ivan Burden (Porchester SC) was the furthest travelled competitor with a strong contingent from West Riding SC - Soeren, Guy, Neil and Alastair, and two from Scotland in David Kitchen and Stewart Mitchell.

Sunday dawned with a lighter and more southerly wind giving a challenging race course to set with a light and shifty wind at the windward mark splitting and mixing the fleet a bit more. Andy Couch again took the lead in both races with the fleet then split up finding the most pressure and best shifts to get the advantage to the tricky windward mark. -- Stewart Mitchell

The 18th Marie-Agnes Peron Trophy
Under sunny skies, on the pontoons of the port of Treboul, the skippers are busy on their boats with final preparations. 85 boats are expected on the starting line of the Marie-Agnes Peron Trophy on June 2nd and the weather seems to be more clement than for the Mini en Mai, a regatta starting from La Trinite which ended on May 20th and during which the skippers were often upwind in a good twenty knots. Among the skippers present for the Marie-Agnes Peron Trophy, several countries are represented: Switzerland, England, Italy, Germany, Holland, Spain, Slovenia, Ireland, Belgium but also the United States, Japan and Canada.

Of the 85 skippers, 15% are women, including Julie Simon, winner of the Pornichet Select. The average age of the competitors is around thirty but there is a big gap between the youngest, Marco Varray, aged 16 and the oldest, aged 65

There are also a good fifteen prototypes, including the last one to come out of the shipyard, which will be racing for the first time: the 1067, named Bill and skippered by Caroline Boule. It is equipped, among other things, with a curved asymmetrical boom and a new hull shape. There are discussions, exchanges and help from each other on the pontoons, while waiting to compete on the water in a few days.

Grand Soleil Cup
The Grand Soleil Cup 2022 at Punta Ala has come to an end. The weather conditions lived up to expectations: sunshine and light wind allowed all sailors to have fun and enjoy the regatta. More than 50 registered boats were able to gather for two intense days of passion for sailing. Saturday night was made special by two exclusive events: the Crew's Cocktail Party at sunset and the Gala Dinner by Yacht Club Punta Ala's pool.

Swan Sardinia Challenge
The ClubSwan Racing focus shifts to the magnificent location of Villasimius at the end of May for the Swan Sardinia Challenge, a new location for the race teams competing in The Nations League series at venues across the Mediterranean.

Based in the Marina di Villasimius on the tip of Sardinia's southeast coast, the Swan Sardinia Challenge has attracted a fleet of almost 30 one-design Swan yachts across three classes - the renowned Swan 45s, the ultra-modern ClubSwan 36s and what will be the season's largest gathering of the high-performance ClubSwan 50s - between them flying the flag for at least 12 countries.

With four days of high-intensity racing to be held in the spectacular setting of the Capo Carbonara Protected Marine Area, the event also offers ClubSwan Racing an ideal opportunity to highlight its sustainable initiatives.

These include the use of robotic marks by MarkSetBot which eliminate damage to the seabed, and ongoing collaborations with the Marevivo environmental group's project to remove plastic from Calasetta Beach.

The Swan Sardinia Challenge - which is co-organised with the Lega Navale Italiana's Villasimius section - will again bring together a highly competitive combination of professional racers and passionate and enthusiastic Corinthian sailors, while the enlarged fleet promises to raise the racing intensity a further notch from last month's Tuscany Challenge.
