From Friday, May 6 for 72 hours, the Virtual Semaine Olympique Francaise will be contested on Virtual Regatta Inshore. For the second year running, players will compete virtually on the same body of water as the sailors did this week in the bay of Hyeres, in the Toulon Provence Mediterranee area.

The "Blue" competition starts on Friday, May 6 at 4pm

Over the 72 hours, virtual players will be able to compete in a maximum of 36 races. The ranking will be determined on the basis of the 8 best races in a row during this period. It is a very open challenge since there will be a different boats every 24 hours, so that everyone can choose their speciality or play together.

A "blue" challenge award will be given by World Sailing, which will allow the top three to directly qualify for the play-off of the Virtual World Championship. It is a great opportunity and the French Sailing Federation are extending it by giving the first four French people to finish entry to the semi-finals of the French E-sailing championship 2022. And, by offering the top 10 real-life competitors of the SOF 2022, who are participating in the virtual challenge, a free registration for the SOF 2023.

Programme:
From Friday, May 6 - 4 pm to Saturday May 7 - 4 pm.: 24 hours of laser racing
From Saturday, May 7 - 4 pm to Sunday May 8 - 4 pm.: 24 hours of Nacra 17 racing
From Sunday, May 8 - 4 pm to Monday May 9 -4 pm: 24 hours of 49er racing

Star Eastern Hemisphere Championship
The winner of this Neapolitan edition of the Silver Event was the reigning world champion Diego Negri, with crew Sergio Lambertenghi. Thanks to the excellent results obtained during the week, the two won with one day to spare.

The fight for the podium was decided today: the Italian - and past World Champion - Enrico Chieffi and Ferdinando Colaninno took second place overall, with Hubert Merkelbach and Kilian Weise (GER) finishing third, winning the only race of the day. The Croatians Marin Misura and Tonko Barac, protagonists of an excellent week, let the podium slip away from their fingers and finished fourth. Again today the Gulf of Naples offered ideal conditions for sailing, with Libeccio wind ranging from 8 to 10 knots.

Final top ten:
1. Diego Negri / Sergio lambertenghi, ITA, 10
2. Enrico Chieffi / Ferdinando Colaninno, ITA, 19
3. Hubert Merkelbach / Kilian Weise, GER, 22

Full reset - Nautor Swan
Nautor Swan ClubSwan Racing did a brilliant job delivering a super-successful 2021 racing season after all of the global challenges... 2022 is promising to be just as good

Racing has been in Swan's DNA since the beginning and Nautor's Swan regattas are eagerly awaited by owners and crews. Villasimius and Mar Menor complete 2022 GC32 Racing Tour
The GC32 Racing Tour will return to its full five event schedule in 2022. Following January's announcement of the 2022 Tour's first three events - the final two events will see the flying catamaran circuit return to Villasimius, Sardinia in mid-September with the season's grand finale once again concluding in Spain's Murcia region on the near-landlocked lake that is the Mar Menor.

Fully revitalised after the pandemic, the circuit will begin with a much anticipated return to Riva del Garda at the end of May, followed by two events in Lagos, Portugal at the end of June and mid-July. Remaining in one venue saves on costs and reduces logistics for the teams and organisers. The GC32 is the only yacht-sized flying catamaran class to be recognised by World Sailing, the governing body of the sport and thus permitted to hold its own World Championship. Thus the latter of the two Lagos events will be this year's GC32 World Championship, the pinnacle event of the season. -- James Boyd

After a relatively mild first part of the race during which the sailors will essentially have to play with small shifts and optimize speed, things could get much more complicated after passing the Glenans on Tuesday. Jean Genie wins 2022 Int. 5.5 Metre Alpen Cup at Torbole
GBR 42 Jean Genie (James Howells, Andrew Palfrey, Ruairidh Scott) have won the Int. 5.5 Metre Alpen Cup at Circolo Vela Torbole on Lake Garda after the two final races on Saturday. SUI 229 Helly Hansen (Kristian Neergard, Trond Soli Sather, Espen Styokkeland), took second with POL 17 Aspire (Mateusz Kusznierewicz, Przemyslaw Gacek, Simon Fry) in third. The final two races were won by BAH 24 New Moon (Mark Holowesko, Christoph Burger, Peter Vlasov) and Helly Hanson.

After two days of classic Garda breezes, the final day brought a change with very different conditions, cloudy skies and a light shifty gradient wind from the south.

A fourth place for Jean Genie was enough to take the Alpen Cup from Helly Hansen by just two points, with Aspire some way adrift in third. -- Robert Deaves

Build up to the 2022 Etchells Worlds begins
Cowes September 2022 is the place to be. The Etchells 2022 world championship will be hosted by the Royal Yacht Squadron and this weekend the last in April the challenge really starts as teams begin to assemble in Cowes to race for the Sir Kenneth Preston Trophy under the watchful eye of the RYS race team lead by Peter Saxton. Over 20 boats are entered so far and that includes many experienced professional sailors, fully Corinthian crewed boats and youth crews who have already shown their strong credentials, the current entry list is available on Yacht scoring.com

Lawrie Smith will be sailing his new Heritage built Etchells for the first, and having won the last UK event quite convincing he is as always expected to be amongst the front runners. Meanwhile in the Youth teams Mike O'Donovan has just come back from the USA having being given the opportunity to sail on an F50 and actually hit 50knots.

Going forward through the summer David Heritage has 4 more Etchells to build for overseas owners coming to Cowes for the World Championships, and some of those new owners are expected at the forthcoming lead up events.

Peters & May Round Antigua Race
The Peters & May Round Antigua Race is the traditional stand-alone event before the start of Antigua Sailing Week. This year two courses were in use by the Race Committee, including a 26-mile Almost Round Antigua. Moody weather with pewter skies and tropical downpours affected this year's race. With the wind speed varying from 16 knots to almost flat calm, the 52-mile course was shortened to a finish at Curtain Mark, just southeast of the stunning Cades Reef. Normal trade wind service is expected to resume for the first day of Antigua Sailing Week, starting on Sunday 1st of May.

The overall winner of the Peters & May Round Antigua Race after CSA time correction was the American FAST40+ Tschuss, skippered by Johnny Mordaunt. "It was a light wind race especially at the start, but halfway round the breeze picked up and it was really enjoyable. It was quite refreshing and very interesting because after a windy Caribbean season that is the first time we have raced the boat in under 10 knots. The boss will be super-happy to receive the Peters & May Trophy at the prize giving tomorrow."

Gunboat 68 Tosca, co-skippered by Ken Howery and Alex Thomson took line honours in the Multihull Class. Back in January, Ken Howery crossed the Atlantic with Tosca to get to Antigua and was reunited with his team for their first race in the Caribbean.

Lithuanian VO65 Ambersail 2, skippered by Raimundas Siugzdinis took line honours in the monohull class.

In the Almost Round Antigua Race of 26 nautical miles, Walter Keenan's Libertas from the BVI took line honours and the win on CSA corrected time. Tommy Patterson's Antiguan First Love was second and Torben Lundgren's Danish team racing Daisy was third.
