Wight Vodka's 2010 Best Yachting Bar Competition Is Open For Voting!
Wight Vodka With last year's inaugural Best Yachting Bar Competition having reached rather phenomenal levels of interest, we're very pleased with the continued velocity of enthusiasm exhibited by our fellow yachtsmen and women! Before we get into details of 2010's Rules of Voting and our Top Ten list, we do want to pay special attention to our 2009 Winner, the Peter Café Sport. If you ever find your way to Horta in the Azores, do spend an evening (or more) in the Peter. You'll most certainly see someone you know, you'll love the food, enjoy the great hospitality and perhaps make it to closing!

Okay, onto 2010! We've had so many great submissions this year; thank you all for spending the time and effort in nominating your favourite bar. We had many passionate submissions for many of last year's nominations, including a grand number of new destinations including Hemmingway's in Cascais, the Black Pearl in Newport, Rhode Island, the Waikiki Yacht Club, and even a 'land locked' yacht club – the Classic Café in Seabrook,Texas! (They must have BIG boats there).

Alas, it's a hard job for the team at Wight Vodka and Scuttlebutt Europe, but in the end, we have narrowed the list down to the Top Ten based on the sheer volume of submissions as well as the quality and passion of your entries. Without further adieu, (and shown in alpha order) here are your Favourite Yachting Bars for 2010!

- Foxy's in the BVI
- The Bitter End Yacht Club in the BVI
- The Boatyard Bar & Grill in Annapolis, Maryland
- The Candy Store in Newport, Rhode Island
- The Dog Watch in Stonington, Connecticut
- The King & Queen in Hamble, England
- The Little Ship Club in London
- The Royal Bermuda Yacht Club
- The Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club
- The Soggy Dollar on Jost Van Dyke in the BVI

And now for the "Wight Vodka Rules of Voting" and the countdown to New Year's Eve, when the winning bar will be announced and the team from Wight Vodka will (after a few martinis) call each of the top ten bars to congratulate them on their successes.

1. Voting is open as of today on the Scuttlebutt Europe website.
2. From Saturday, 11th December through Saturday the 27th December, you can vote for your favourite bar ONE TIME ONLY.
3. The winning bar will be announced on the 31st December.
4. Quite simply, the bar with the most votes will win and receive a fabulous certificate commemorating their place in history, Wight Vodka Regatta Caps for their crew, and of course, a signed bottle of Wight to celebrate their win!

Let the voting begin, may the best bar win, and remember the Wight Vodka tagline to Tack & Gybe Responsibly!

P.S. We will announce the winner of the Atlantis Grandprix Softshell Jacket on Wednesday 15th December for "Penning the Best Submission." There are hundreds of excellent entries, and the team at Atlantis, Scuttlebutt Europe, Seahorse Magazine and Wight Vodka need to agree on the ultimate submission (which will most likely happen after a few Wight Vodka cocktails…)

The Northern Wight
The Northern Wight Here's one for you to enjoy on a cold winter's evening when throwing a holiday party. It tastes fantastic and looks completely delicious, and is particularly effective when your guests are streaming in from the cold. Depending on how fast you want to get your party rolling, you can adjust the amount of Wight Vodka per cocktail, but the mixologists at 50 North believe anything over a full shot constitutes a martini, and as such, you need to heed the warning "One martini, two martini, three martini…floor!"

The ingredients you'll need to mix the perfect Northern Wight are:

- 1/2 shot of chilled Wight Vodka
- 1 shot of Cranberry Juice
- 1 shot of Pomegranate Juice
- Champagne
- Chambord

Combine your Wight Vodka, the cranberry and pomegranate juices in a shaker with ice and mix it for a minute or two to really chill it. Strain into your favourite champagne flutes, top up with champagne and a splash of Chambord. Beware that your guests will definitely ask for more…so have a well stocked bar!
