Quantum Racing Seal 2016 52 Super Series Title
Cascais, Portugal: Quantum Racing sealed the 2016 52 Super Series title when they crossed the finish line of the fourth race of the EGNOS 52 Super Series Cascais Cup winning the overall season with two days of racing still to be completed.
The American-flagged team has won four out of four regattas this season. And when they crossed the finish line in third late this afternoon with Azzurra in eighth, they now share the same points tally as the leaders of this final regatta this season.
The 2016 title is Quantum Racing's third since the 52 SUPER SERIES started out in 2012, adding to their series wins in 2013 and 2014.
Quantum Racing will keep their celebrations on ice, reserved for Saturday night's glamorous prize-giving. Meanwhile, they brought their clean sweep of all five regatta titles within closer reach when they returned a typical solid pair of two thirds from the testing windward-leewards. As erstwhile regatta leaders Azzurra sailed to a second and an eighth the two are now locked together on 12pts with two days of racing left.
A delay to racing was rewarded with two competitive races, where opportunities for gains and losses were always available in the shifting W'ly to NW'ly breezes which varied from seven to 10 knots.
Azzurra and Quantum Racing are now tied on 12 points, Takashi Okura's Sled are third also posting a six point day, sailing to fourth and second and Platoon move to fourth overall for the regatta.

About That America's Cup Settlement Deal ...
The 'News' today that Emirates Team New Zealand has won their case before the America's Cup Arbitration Panel is not new or exclusive. Sail-World reported the same story a month ago.
The Hearing on the amount of compensation to be paid is yet to be held. So far there is nothing out on a Hearing Date for the Remedy phase of the Hearing, if indeed one has been set. Maybe next year? And then another month or so for a Decision?
Clearly, some money will change hands, quite how much is going to be determined. The $5million quoted today in New Zealand is way too light.
We know that the NZ Government invested $NZD37million into Emirates Team NZ in the 34th America's Cup in San Francisco.
After the team had returned to New Zealand, it became clear that there had been no Plan B in regards to the continuance of the team in the event of a loss in San Francisco, and Minister Steven Joyce announced an injection of $5million soon after the team's return home.
That $5million would have come off any Government investment for the 35th America's Cup. It was a funding advance.
Our guess is that the Government was set to invest $25million in Team New Zealand in return for hosting the Qualifiers in Auckland. Whether that included the costs of Hosting, would have been subject to negotiation.

Bermuda Takes A Hit From Nicole

Hurricane Nicole is now moving away from Bermuda, and the task of restoring the island is getting underway, with Bermuda's experienced crews getting to work to bring us back to normal.
There is visible damage, however despite being hit by a Category 3 hurricane with maximum sustained winds near 115 mph [185 km/h], we have not, as of yet in our travels, seen catastrophic levels of damage, with Bermuda's strong buildings appearing to have carried us through yet another storm.
However there are extensive power outages, with BELCO confirming there are 27,431 customers without power due to Hurricane Nicole, which is approximately 90 percent of customers.
"BELCO has started patrolling the system for damage assessment and where they can re-energize safely, without a lot of work they will try to do so," a spokesperson said.
"We have reports of poles down and wires in the road, so it is essential that all wires are suspected to be live and absolutely avoided. Those are the emergency type issues that are being dealt with first."
Officials have confirmed the welcome news that there was no loss of life, and we are awaiting official updates on the Causeway, transportation, airport and more, and will update as able.

Malcolm Page Oam Inducted Into The Sport Australia Hall Of Fame

Olympic Sailing gold medallist, Malcolm Page OAM has been inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame overnight in recognition of his outstanding contribution in the sport of sailing.
Page was the first-ever Australian sailor to win back-to-back Olympic Gold medals, when he won the Men's 470 class event at the London 2012 Olympic Games. A seven-time world champion, Page dominated the men's 470 class for almost a decade and is Australia's most successful Olympic sailor.
After narrowly missing selection for the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Page joined with Nathan Wilmot and the pair went on to win the 2004 world championship before finishing twelfth at the Olympic Games in Athens.
World titles in 2005, 2006 and 2007 followed in the 470 class and at the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008, the pair won Olympic gold.
Page returned for his third Olympic appearance in London, this time with partner Mathew Belcher. The duo had already collected the 2010, 2011 and 2012 world titles and they produced a stunning display in the waters off Weymouth to record five wins heading into the gold medal race - where a second place was enough to secure the gold medal.
The captain of the Australian sailing team from 2005 to 2012, Page's stunning performance at the London 2012 Olympic Games was capped off with the honour of carrying the Australian flag and leading the Australian Olympic Team into the closing ceremony in London.

With close to 50 days until the 2016 Sailing World Cup Final commences, from the 4 - 11 December 2016, competitors are encouraged to register and confirm their spot for the first and ultimate Sailing World Cup event in the Southern Hemisphere.

ILVE, the first of the brand new 18ft Skiffs this year, was christened at Double Bay on Sunday afternoon, just minutes before the opening race of the Australian 18 Footers League's 2016-2017 Season on Sydney Harbour.
Claire Kowaltzke, did the honours of christening the spectacular looking new skiff, which will be skippered by Ollie Hartas.
Adam Bolton is for'ard hand on ILVE, and Mark Muirhead is the sheet hand.
ILVE was built by Van Munster Boatbuilders, the official 18ft Skiff class builders, at Morriset on the Central Coast north of Sydney.
Van Munsters have also built new boats for De'Longhi (Simon Nearn) and Line 7 (Jonathan Whitty) for the 2016-2017 Season.
These new skiffs are expected to be on the water and racing within the next two weeks.
The Australian 18 Footers League's 2016-2017 Season continues Sunday on Sydney Harbour when the club will stage the Major A. Frizelle Trophy 3-Buoys race.

After a year in discussion, Royal Huisman has announced the signing of a new 81m sailing yacht to an Asian client. With a contemporary, yet classical profile, the three-masted schooner will be the largest aluminium sailing yacht to date.
With particularly squared angles, the 81m project will be a blend of classic and contemporary and, upon completion, is likely to be socially raced in some of the worlds most famous regattas. Designed by Dykstra Naval Architects and designer Mark Whiteley, the interior of the yacht follows the same contemporary theme of the exterior with light and fresh styling.
According to Royal Huisman, the keel of the 81m will be laid in the next month and the yacht will be completed by 2020.
