Minoprio Wins World Match Racing Tour Stage 2
A jubilant Minoprio and his team shared their joy, "It's unfortunate when no wind comes in. We felt we started sailing better as the regatta went on finishing the round robin on 8 wins with Richard and Williams. We have been fortunate enough today to take out the regatta".
Semi final stage was cut short at midday after no morning racing; Jesper Radich (DEN) Radich Racing Team went through to the finals over a disappointed Mathieu Richard (FRA) French Match Racing Team at 2-1. Adam Minoprio (NZL) ETNZ/BlackMatch Racing cemented his finals spot after yesterday's score of 2-1 over 'birthday boy' Torvar Mirsky (AUS) Mirsky Racing Team.
As the air temperature soared to 26 degrees so too did the tension on board the race boats. The yellow and black 'standby flag' hung limply on the race committee's boat which further infuriated the skippers who desperately needed action to be in with a champion chance.
By 16:00 hours the race committee stopped the dormant drifting and decided on a boat parade for the fans.
Travel plans will now shift to Korea Match Cup, Stage 3 of the ISAF World Match Racing Tour happening at the beginning of June. This will be the first 2010 event outside of Europe and could see the likes of new hot shot Phil Robertson (NZL) WAKA Racing Team taking advantage of his previous regatta training at this unique venue that is also to host the Korean International Boat Show while the Tour event plays out.

Yves Le Blevec, on a boat that was revamped during the winter gave more than a hard time to the skipper, who has been leading the Multi50 class for several years. Crepes Whaou ! 3's victory is all the more outstanding, as achieved in spite of considerable opposition. For Franck-Yves Escoffier, as for the future of the class, this is in the end the best news they could have imagined for the start of the 2010 season.
The two multihulls must now undergo a certain number of customs formalities on Cronstadt Island before making their way to the port of St-Petersburg. This involves around five hours of sailing in order to reach the Yacht-Club pontoon.
The rest of the fleet is making good speed towards the entrance to the Gulf of Finland. Loïc Fequet's crew are due to finish on Monday night. The rest of the fleet is expected to reach the mouth of the Neva some time on Wednesday.

A Good Day For The Italians
When the last race finished in fading light just after 8:00 pm local time, Mascalzone Latino was the top scoring Italian boat with a 2-1 record after losing today to All4One in a race that saw the umpires impose a red flag penalty on the local boat for a collision just before the weather mark. However she may be assessed a further scoring penalty - redress hearings are scheduled for Monday night. The Italian boat Azzurra won her first race of the series, beating Luna Rossa, and now has a 1-2 record. Luna Rossa's loss today puts her on 0-2.
The cleanest record of any of the ten international teams competing in matched America's Cup boats is the Swedish team Artemis with two wins and no losses.
Sardinia today offered up warm, sunny and windy conditions. The problem was not a lack of wind but a lack of consistent wind direction. Crews waited all day until the first of six match races started at 4:00 pm, local time.

Thirty Olympic Medallists Ready For Delta Lloyd Regatta
The Dutch team will be present in all classes with many chances for medals. Dorian Van Rijsselberge (RS:X) and Thierry Schmitter (2.4) will defend their titles at home. Marit Bouwmeester who is leading the standings after a victory in Melbourne will try to add another SWC title. She will face 2009 winner Tatiana Drozdovskaya (BLR) or 2010 Palma winner Tina Mihelic (CRO), among a talented field in the laser radial.
2009 Champions will be back to defend their title in ten out of the eleven Olympic and Paralympic classes competing in the Delta Lloyd Regatta, with the exception of the Star class. Blanca Manchon (ESP) in the RS:X and Ed Wright in the Finns will also aim to retain their 2009 World Cup title.
The Delta Lloyd Regatta will mark the come back to international competition this year for Pieter-Jan Postma (NED) in the Finn class, for Polish duo Matesz Kusznierewicz (2 Olympic medals) and Dominic Zycki in the Star or Double world Laser champion, Australian Tom Slingsby.
After claiming a Finn bronze medal in Atlanta in 1996, Roy Heiner (NED) had turned to match racing, Soling and Ocean racing. A recent and successful comeback to the Finn scene during the Dutch Open championship last September has motivated Heiner for more! He will participate in this year Delta Lloyd regatta in the Finns, fourteen years after his medal and retirement from the Finn scene.
As of Friday May 28, the Dutch company Mylaps will take care of the live 3D online tracing & tracking of the 470 competition and the Medal Races. The Medal Races will also be broadcast live from various camera angles. -- Corinne Mckenzie
Marco Buglielli and Mike Maier on top of Finn Masters
The 2010 Finn World Masters was official opened on Sunday evening outside YC Labud. After registration was complete the entry stood at 167 from 25 nations. Following presentations by Ivan Kuret, president of Organising Committee and Mario Negotic, head of the sports department of the City of Split, Fons van Gent, the Finn Masters President officially opened the championship. Earlier, Attila Szilvassy (HUN) had won the practice race in light to moderate conditions.
Monday started with a short postponement to allow the sea breeze time to build, and the first races got underway at 13.00 in 8-10 knots of breeze.
The wind had increased for the second race with Oscar flag flying at the start for free pumping downwind. Both fleets got away first time, though by the time the fleets had got to the first mark, the wind had decreased causing Romeo to be displayed.

Liebherr Irish Cruiser Racing Association Nationals
Anthony O'Leary in Antix on 0.5 pts took the Class 0 IRC title by the slimmest of margins over Dave Dwyer's Marinerscove.ie who had 10.5 pts. Marinerscove, sailed by Nicholas O'Leary, had two first places today as the lighter airs seemed to suit the Mills 39 a little better and Antix is giving her 40 seconds in the hour. Peter Rutter's Quokka 8 a British Commodore's Cup Team member had a third and second today but was very consistent throughout the event and was able to discard a 6th and this cemented his third place on 16 points.
On the whole there were no major surprises in the IRC results with just a couple of changes in placings, with a notable exception in Division One IRC ,with the emergence of Tony Fox's A35 Gringo to take second place. Gringo who was lying in sixth place yesterday, today scored two seconds and with a discard of 19 this was enough to bring him to second place. The winner, Rockabill, sailed by Mel Collins had five firstsand a second in the series in what was possibly, with 29 boats, the most competitive of the classes. The best of the J109s, Joker 2, was third.
In Class Two an interesting fact is that Corby 25s took places one two and three. The pre race favourite the Colwell/Murphy Kinetic took the trophy from two Cork boats, Denis Coleman in Thunderbird second and Vinny O'Shea in Yanks and ffrancs third.
In Class Three Flor O'Driscoll in Hard on Port lost his crown to the Faroux Quarter tonner Tiger of Joxer O'Brien and the Kenefick father and son pairing followed in third place by the quarter tonner Supernova from the Royal Irish Yacht Club. -- Claire Bateman

According to court documents, filed last month, the company claims $950,000 in assets and about $3.5 million in liabilities. It lists nearly 100 creditors in its bankruptcy filing.
Last December, Goetz Custom Technology, owned by Eric Goetz, laid off its entire work force for the second time in 2009, as work came to a halt on an 82-foot racing sailboat at the center of a lawsuit, which is still pending.
The boat was being built for Aegir Racing Ltd., the legal entity created by a Scotsman who hired Goetz to build the Rogers 82 in August 2008 for more than $6 million. In October, Aegir filed a lawsuit against Goetz in U.S. District Court.
Aegir claims the boat has a structural problem, "in that some bulkheads and longitudinal beams have not been fabricated or installed in accordance with the plans."

* Sparkman & Stephens has announced the expansion of their Design Department to Newport, Rhode Island. Yacht design, naval architecture, and marine engineering services will be offered at both the New York and Newport locations starting June 1st.
The Newport team will be comprised of two talented naval architects, Brendan and Daniela Abbott. Brendan is a graduate of Webb Institute and an alumnus of Fontaine Design Group in Portsmouth, RI. Daniela is a graduate of Webb Institute, with a Masters Degree from the University of Southampton, and joined S&S in New York after beginning her career in the commercial field. The designers will be joining two knowledgeable S&S brokers currently based in Newport, Jeff Grey and A.J. Evans. Jeff also manages after-sales and refit services for S&S from the Newport location. * The Bermuda Race Organizing Committee has named West Marine as an official supplier for the 47th Newport Bermuda Race.
On May 28, West Marine opens its new Newport Flagship West Marine store at 379 West Main Road in Middletown, RI. Almost three times larger than West Marine's former store on Connell Highway, the new store has a significantly larger inventory and a full-service rigging shop. The store is also home to two other West Marine operations, Port Supply and Professional Captain's Services.

It was Frank, with his wife Margaret, who started the tradition of the Wayfarer cruising rallies and the Winter Cruising Conference Weekend, both of which have grown to their present popularity from the humble beginnings of inviting a few friends to cross the Wash, and organizing a weekend around February for some fellow Wayfarer cruising enthusiasts to join him to discuss aspects of cruising. It is due to Frank initiating these events that Wayfarer Cruising has grown in (international) stature and importance to equal that of Wayfarer Racing - something that is completely unique to the Wayfarer, (and sister dinghy, the Wanderer), among dinghy classes.
Frank will be sorely missed by the many people who knew him - in person or by reputation - but his stature as the greatest dinghy cruiser there is likely to ever be, will live on in our minds and hearts. -- Ralph Roberts
