Joyon's Rock Star Crew For The Jules Verne Attempt
IDEC SPORT, Francis Joyon's new maxi-trimaran was christened on Wednesday 14th October in La Trinite-sur-mer. The stand-by before setting sail to attempt to smash the Jules Verne Trophy record starts in two weeks.

"I'm only taking skippers with me," said Francis to explain why on board everyone needs to know how to do everything. They will all be taking turns at the helm of the big trimaran. "Unlike the bigger crews, where there are lots of sailors specialising in one area, we'll be setting off with strong all-rounders on IDEC SPORT."

Only the first winner of the Jules Verne Trophy, Bruno Peyron, dared to set off with five and that was back in 1993. Since then, there have always been between 10 and 14 sailors on board.

Bernard Stamm (SUI) 51
It's hardly worth presenting this expert round the world sailor, the only member of this IDEC SPORT crew to have already won the Jules Verne Trophy (in 2005 aboard the maxi-catamaran Orange II).

Gwenole Gahinet (FRA) 31
It has been in the Figaro class too that Gweno has made a name for himself in the past few years with some excellent results, after previously winning the Mini Transat. An engineer in boat design, he a lot for VPLP, the team which designed IDEC SPORT. This is his first round the world voyage.

Alex Pella (SPAIN) 42
Born in Barcelona, Alex was first known for his excellent preparation of big multihulls - particularly in The Race - before beginning a remarkable career starting in the Mini 6.50 (2nd in the transatlantic race), then Class 40 (winner of the Route du Rhum).

Clement Surtel (FRA) 36
Clement has a huge amount of experience of big trimarans in general and IDEC SPORT in particular. He prepared her, when she was in the hands of Franck Cammas. Clement has been involved in two previous Jules Verne Trophies in 2005 and 2010.

Boris Herrmann (GER) 34
Two round the world voyages and three roundings of Cape Horn, He has just sailed through the North East passage aboard the former IDEC now in the hands of the Chinese sailor, Guo Chuan. In 2009, he became the first German to win a round the world race: the Global Ocean Race.

Roland Jourdain (FRA) 51 (substitute)
Top teams always have a joker up their sleeve as a substitute. Just in case, Bilou is there to set off, if one of the five men has to pull out at the last moment. A hero from the Vendee Globe, the Figaro, the Route du Rhum and giant multihull racing.

Router back on dry land: Marcel Van Triest (HOLL), 51
One of the best routers in the world. He is also a great sailor, who has already raced around the world five times.

J70 European Championship Sixty teams representing 11 nationalities were champing at the bit on the starting block this morning waiting for the P to drop. Within minutes a brisk easterly filled in steadying at 13 knots to give ideal conditions for the Race Committee headed by John Coveney assisted by PRO Thierry Leret to complete two races today.

It was no surprise to see so many general recalls, obliging the Race Committee to bring out the Black Flag for both races, disqualifying several that were over the line.

The German Max Rieger (Led Zeppelin), one of the favourites, paid a high price for the over-eagerness of his young team at the start of the second race as they were declared BFD, meaning they cannot afford to make another mistake, as was the Mexican Fernandez Neckelmann Julian (Flojito y cooperando), current World Champion who lies 28th in the overall provisional ranking this evening, and Key West title holder, Carlo Alberini (Calvi Network) who is currently 24th.

This evening it's the Spaniard Hugo Rocha (New Territories), winner of Kiel Week, who leads the provisional ranking with a 3rd and a win ahead of German Moritz Bohnenberger (Touring Junior) and Swede Oscar Lundqvist (Fanny), equal on points with Monegasque Jacopo Carrain (Carpe Diem).

Breeze On At The 2015 Sunfish World Championship
Paracas, Peru: After a breezy day one with winds in the 15-20 range, day two brought the big breeze that makes Paracas famous and plenty of chop to the race course. Principal Race Officer, Roberto Peschiera put the fleet through their paces in the 25 plus wind to get in two more races before the full "paracas" wind and sand storm came in and the fleet was sent ashore.

David Gonzalez Arria of Venezuela continues to hold a slim lead of three points over two time World Champion, Alexander Zimmermann of Peru. David Mendelblatt of the USA moved into third place today. All three sailors have been consistent with all single digit finishes. Two new race winners showed their skill today with Paul-Jon Patin USA winning race four and Alonso Collantes of Peru winning race five. A throw out may impact the standings around tomorrow once race six is completed as there are a couple of competitors with letter scores that will become their throw outs.

Race seven of the series is scheduled for 1300 on Thursday. A total of twelve races are scheduled in the World Championship running through October 17 with October 16 as a lay day if seven races have been completed.

Croatia and Austria Stake Claim at the Top of 470 Worlds Leaderboard
A stuttered start to today's racing, with the 470 Women fleet getting underway after a general recall and several postponements. The light and variable breeze went from around 4 knots to a max of 8.5 knots, accompanied by the usual swell.

Sime Fantela/Igor Marenic (CRO) scored two second places to escape the shadow of overnight leaders Mat Belcher/Will Ryan (AUS) and give themselves a useful safety net of 11 points. An upset in race 6 pushed the Aussies to a 21st place finish, following up with a 15th in race 7 to end the day in second.

The 470 men fleets will race two races tomorrow.

470 Men - Top five results after 7 Races
1. Sime Fantela/Igor Marenic, CRO 83, 19 points
2. Mathew Belcher/Will Ryan, AUS, 30
3. Anton Dahlberg/Fredrik Bergstrom, SWE, 30

5. Jordi Xammar/Joan Herp, ESP, 31

A challenge to get the two 470 women races underway, with general recalls, postponements and eventually getting off under the black flag.

It seemed as though the day would belong to Hannah Mills/Saskia Clark (GBR) who won race 5 and took over the series lead. But it didn't take long for reigning 470 World Champions, Lara Vadlau/Jola Ogar (AUT), with their single digit scorecard, to pop out on top by race 6. Just 1 point now separates the two teams.

The 470 Women will contest 2 races tomorrow, with a scheduled start time of 1300 hours.

Industry News
Six months after General Electric announced it would sell off most of its financial arm GE Capital, that divesting process is nearly complete.

GE GE -0.97% announced Tuesday it would sell a large portion of GE Capital - its commercial lending and leasing businesses with roughly $32 billion in assets - to Wells Fargo WFC -0.69% , representing the industrial conglomerate's largest divestiture to date.

The deal also brings the tally of GE's selloffs to $126 billion in assets, or nearly two-thirds of the $200 billion it plans to exit overall. It also rids GE Capital of nearly all that remains of its U.S. business, leaving only a $5.5 billion unit that lends to franchises. Besides that, the rest of the assets GE plans to dispose of are outside the U.S.

GE Capital Commercial Distribution Finance encludes its recreational marine lending division.
